Wee Hock Kee
Wee Hock Kee brings with him over four decades of experience in leadership roles across multinational corporations, specializing in internal audit, risk management, and corporate governance. A MIA member, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Wee previously held the position of Regional Audit Director for Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa at AstraZeneca PLC. He is currently a Faculty Member and Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM) and a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors (SID).
Wee has made notable contributions to the internal audit profession, having served as President of both the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIAM) and the Asian Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (ACIIA). He was also a board member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global, member of the ACCA Malaysia Advisory Council, and Chairman of the Internal Audit Working Group at the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. At present, Wee chairs PERKESO’s Governance, Ethics, Assurance and Risk Committee (GEAR). He was the Audit and Risk Committee Chairman of the IIAM. He has previously served on the boards of various public-listed companies in Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Kingdom, where he led key board committees including Audit, Risk Management, and Nomination and Remuneration. He was also a Board Member and Audit and Risk Committee Chairman of MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia’s National ICT R&D agency. Wee was also a former Commissioner of the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM).
Wee was named Malaysian Internal Auditor of the Year in 2001 and chaired the prestigious 2011 IIA International Conference held in Kuala Lumpur. He has also been a Research Fellow at the ELM Faculty of HELP University. Wee has conducted numerous board effectiveness evaluations for large-cap companies, applying his deep industry knowledge to support enhanced board governance and long-term organisational value. Recently, he was awarded the Presidential Legacy Award by ACIIA having served as the First President.
