Raja Segaran
Raja is the Director of the Regional Digital Economy Office (RDEO) at the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), where he leads the execution of strategies to strengthen digital ecosystems across Malaysia and contributes to national platforms, committees, and task forces shaping the country’s digital economy policies and initiatives. He has spearheaded the development of several key national strategies, including the National AI Framework, National Sharing Economy Roadmap, National eCommerce Strategic Roadmap, Measuring the Digital Economy initiative, National MSME Digitalisation Roadmap 2030, National Business Digital Adoption Index, and the MDEC–NAIO Task Force for Malaysia’s AI Regulatory Framework. In academia, Raja serves as an Adjunct Professor in Digital Strategies and Advisor to the Centre for Innovation and Technology Adoption (CITA) at UNITAR International University, bringing industry perspectives to talent development and innovation. He is also a Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Management (FMIM), where he co-hosts the “Leaders Unplugged” podcast on Spotify and YouTube. Internationally, Raja serves as the IEEE Global Chair for the Digital Economy & Financial Inclusion (DEFI) Sub-Committee under the IEEE Digital Resilience Industry Connection Program. Before joining MDEC, he was a Director at Ernst & Young (EY) Consulting in Kuala Lumpur, leading strategy and transformation initiatives and establishing transformation offices for major public and private sector projects, including the Kuala Lumpur–Singapore High-Speed Rail, Power Sector Reform, Iskandar Development Region, and corporate restructuring engagements.
