Lai Tak Ming
Mr. Lai Tak Ming joined UOB Malaysia in 2018 as Executive Director and Country Head of Human Resources, UOB Malaysia. He works closely with the Chief Executive Officer in formulating and executing the Human Resource strategy for the bank to ensure a strong talent pipeline and people sustainability through orchestrating a cultural renewal and organisational transformation. He has 40 years of corporate experience and close to 35 years of human resource leadership. He is well-versed across a wide range of HR practices, including talent management, talent development, succession planning, training, organisation and culture development, talent acquisition, merger and acquisition, employee/union relations and operations. Critically, he provided strategic and tactical direction in leading the people integration process during the recent acquisition of Citibank retail business.
He previously held positions as the Head of Human Resources of Lee Wah Bank (Malaysia) between 1991 and 1996; Head of Human Resources and Administration of Gamuda Bhd for 16 years and led a consulting business between 2005 and 2011 as Chief Operating Officer of Human Dynamic, a regional people management consulting firm. Tak Ming has a BSc Ed (Major: Physics) from University of Malaya, and an MBA (focus in HR Dev) from University of Hull. He is a Certified Master Performance Coach and a Chartered Fellow of CIPD, UK.
