Andy Chew is a senior finance leader with over 34 years of experience in the energy sector. Andy joined Vantris Energy (formerly Sapura Energy) as Group Chief Financial Officer in 2021, and later served as Chief Restructuring Officer until his retirement in 2025. He assumed leadership at a critical juncture when the company was on the brink of collapse, spearheading a comprehensive restructuring and transformation. Under his stewardship, Vantris Energy achieved a successful turnaround, including: a debt restructuring of USD 2.5 billion, settlement of contractual disputes totaling USD 2.1 billion, portfolio optimisation which USD 0.8 billion and raising new capital of USD 0.25 billion. Andy drove transformative initiatives that strengthened the organisation’s resilience and performance. He restructured the finance function to enhance financial oversight, improved enterprise risk management to support strategic decision-making, introduced a performance-based reward system to foster collaboration, and developed a finance competency framework to promote continuous learning and development. Prior to joining Vantris Energy, Andy spent nearly three decades with Royal Dutch Shell Group, where he held senior country and regional roles—including Finance Director for Shell Companies in Malaysia—before relocating to the Group’s Head Office in The Hague.
